Temporary Retail Assistant - 6 - 12 months

Our client is seeking a Showroom Assistant to join them on a full-time basis for a fixed-term contract of 6 to 12 months. Reporting to the Head of Sales, this office-based role involves providing exceptional customer service both in person and via telephone and email. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operation of the showroom, promoting gas and electrical appliances, assisting with customer queries, and ensuring the highest levels of service are maintained at all times.

Job Duties:

  • Sell gas and electrical appliances along with associated accessories
  • Liaise with internal departments to progress sales, enquiries, and customer queries
  • Maintain showroom presentation and organise product displays
  • Handle cash payments, reconcile daily takings, and ensure secure banking procedures
  • Provide customers with energy efficiency advice and information on tariffs
  • Promote the benefits of gas to existing and potential customers
  • Develop strong product knowledge to accurately match appliances to customer needs
  • Deliver product training to colleagues as required
  • Assist customers with all aspects of the company’s services, referring complex queries to the appropriate department
  • Contribute to the execution of marketing strategies and showroom sales plans to help meet agreed sales targets and enhance profitability
  • Keep informed on industry innovations and new product developments
  • Build friendly and professional relationships with customers and the public to support positive commercial outcomes
  • Identify and propose business improvement opportunities with clear goals and implementation strategies
  • Take responsibility for resolving enquiries and complaints promptly, accurately, and professionally

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing sales role
  • Confident and outgoing with strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • High attention to detail
  • Technically minded, with an aptitude for understanding product features and usage (advantageous but not essential)
