Our client is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis, based in Guernsey. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in maintaining and enhancing a strong compliance and risk control environment within a highly regulated fiduciary services business. Reporting to the Head of Compliance, the successful candidate will support the day-to-day operations of the compliance function, as well as contribute to regulatory projects and ongoing advisory work.
Job Duties:
- Support the compliance function in fulfilling regulatory obligations under the fiduciary, AML/CFT and data protection regimes
- Conduct reviews of client CDD, source of wealth profiles, and entity risk assessments
- Maintain and update compliance registers and logs in line with GFSC requirements
- Assist with client onboarding and the new business process, including attending committee meetings
- Carry out sanctions screening and advanced open-source checks for risk assessment purposes
- Review and report findings from compliance reviews and raise action points
- Track progress against compliance action plans and contribute to quarterly board reports
- Maintain and enhance departmental policies and procedures, drafting new documents as required
- Assist with the preparation of annual regulatory returns
- Support the delivery of compliance and AML training across the business
- Provide day-to-day advisory support to colleagues on compliance processes and regulatory requirements
- Respond to information requests and assist with submissions to the Guernsey Registry
- Contribute to special projects such as audits or internal reviews as required
Job Requirements:
- Proven experience in a compliance role, ideally within the fiduciary or financial services sector
- Relevant compliance or AML qualification
- Strong understanding of the regulatory environment in Guernsey, including fiduciary rules and AML/CFT obligations
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills
- Confident advising on compliance matters and providing informal training
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office, and experience using compliance systems such as RiskScreen and DMS
