Our client is seeking a Legal Advisor to join their team in Jersey. This is a full-time role offering an opportunity to provide legal support across moderately complex matters within a dynamic and regulated financial services environment. The role will involve delivering sound legal advice, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the business in legal risk identification and mitigation. The successful candidate will have a legal background with proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal documentation, particularly within financial services.
Job Duties:
- Provide legal advice on moderately complex matters using established tools and methodologies
- Draft, vet, review, disseminate, and negotiate legal documents in line with internal policies
- Support business stakeholders by offering clear, commercially aware legal opinions
- Ensure adherence to data privacy and regulatory standards in all legal work
- Maintain accurate legal case records and documentation
- Participate in vendor selection where legal expertise is required to ensure high-quality outcomes
- Foster collaborative relationships with internal legal teams and stakeholders to remain aligned on business developments
- Assist in legal risk mitigation and offer strategic legal input to support business planning
- Contribute to legal aspects of contract management, ensuring compliance with internal standards and frameworks
- Support the wider legal function in ensuring business activities align with local and international legal requirements
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Law
- Minimum of seven years’ experience providing legal advice, including five years within the legal and/or financial services sector
- At least three years’ experience in people management or team leadership (formal or informal)
- Strong understanding of legal risk identification and mitigation
- Proficiency in contract management and legal drafting
- Knowledge of financial industry regulatory frameworks
- Ability to conduct legal research and provide clear, commercially relevant advice
- Excellent communication skills and sound judgement
