Our client is seeking an experienced Operational Risk Manager to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis. This pivotal role will support the successful execution of operational risk management programmes, ensuring they are aligned with industry best practices and regulatory expectations. The position requires close collaboration with business units to assess risks, strengthen controls, and promote a strong risk-aware culture across the organisation.
Job Duties:
- Lead the operational risk incident process from identification through to resolution, including root cause analysis and control improvement
- Oversee complaints handling processes, identifying root causes and ensuring timely resolution within policy thresholds
- Support the deployment of the Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) programme, including methodologies and reporting
- Monitor operational risk exposure through Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), loss data, and control metrics, and produce risk reports for senior management and committees
- Ensure policies and procedures are up to date, clearly communicated, and consistently followed across business units
- Maintain a robust business continuity framework, including business impact assessments and crisis management protocols
- Act as a trusted advisor to business units, challenging control weaknesses and embedding risk management practices
- Undertake ad hoc projects and initiatives to strengthen operational risk management and align local efforts with group-wide frameworks
- Improve operational risk procedures in line with corporate governance, culture, and strategic direction
- Develop and deliver training on operational risk, incident reporting, and business continuity to build a strong risk-aware culture
- Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders to consult on risk management and drive process enhancements
- Stay up to date through regular training in operational risk, RCSA, and business continuity topics
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in risk management within financial services or a regulated environment
- In-depth knowledge of risk management principles, including Basel standards; familiarity with GRC platforms is advantageous
- Strong understanding of banking regulations within the Channel Islands and prior experience in a similar offshore regulatory environment
- Knowledge of internal control frameworks, including control design and evaluation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong negotiation and influencing abilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, handle competing priorities, and deliver under pressure
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide others
