Our client is seeking a Buyers Assistant to support their friendly team in Guernsey. This is a full-time, permanent role based at head office, with flexibility to consider part-time hours (minimum 30 hours per week) for the right candidate. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the start of their career or looking for a new direction within the fashion retail sector. The successful candidate will support all aspects of the buying process, contributing to product development, critical path management, and supplier coordination.
Job Duties:
- Provide administrative support for all buying processes
- Manage and maintain the visual range planner and current season samples
- Attend fit sessions, preparing and measuring samples as required
- Liaise with suppliers regarding packaging, labelling, tech packs, and product queries
- Select and approve trims, lab dips, strike-offs, and bulk standards in the Buyer’s absence
- Support critical path meetings by highlighting issues and proposing solutions
- Participate in range building through sales analysis, competitor research, and trend awareness
- Respond to store queries in a timely and professional manner
- Deputise effectively when the Buyer is absent
- Contribute to weekly trade actions and monitor new-in product categories
- Build strong working relationships across the business and supply chain
Job Requirements:
- A fashion-related qualification is advantageous but not essential
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Keen eye for detail in relation to products, processes and systems
- Confident communicator who builds relationships easily
- Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
- Passion for product, trends, and the retail industry
- Previous experience in a fashion or retail environment is beneficial, but full training will be provided
