Buyers Assistant

Our client is seeking a Buyers Assistant to support their friendly team in Guernsey. This is a full-time, permanent role based at head office, with flexibility to consider part-time hours (minimum 30 hours per week) for the right candidate. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the start of their career or looking for a new direction within the fashion retail sector. The successful candidate will support all aspects of the buying process, contributing to product development, critical path management, and supplier coordination.

Job Duties:

  • Provide administrative support for all buying processes
  • Manage and maintain the visual range planner and current season samples
  • Attend fit sessions, preparing and measuring samples as required
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding packaging, labelling, tech packs, and product queries
  • Select and approve trims, lab dips, strike-offs, and bulk standards in the Buyer’s absence
  • Support critical path meetings by highlighting issues and proposing solutions
  • Participate in range building through sales analysis, competitor research, and trend awareness
  • Respond to store queries in a timely and professional manner
  • Deputise effectively when the Buyer is absent
  • Contribute to weekly trade actions and monitor new-in product categories
  • Build strong working relationships across the business and supply chain

Job Requirements:

  • A fashion-related qualification is advantageous but not essential
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Keen eye for detail in relation to products, processes and systems
  • Confident communicator who builds relationships easily
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Passion for product, trends, and the retail industry
  • Previous experience in a fashion or retail environment is beneficial, but full training will be provided
