Our client is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Finance Operations Manager to join their central Finance team. This pivotal role involves overseeing the daily finance operations of the firm, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and championing internal policies. The successful candidate will lead and develop a team of finance administrators, driving efficient financial processes and continuous improvements. As a key point of contact between the Finance team and other departments, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial operations align with the firm’s overall objectives.
Job Duties:
- Lead, manage, and develop a team of finance administrators, providing guidance, training, and support.
- Ensure effective allocation of workload across the team to maintain efficiency and accuracy in finance operations.
- Conduct performance reviews, set objectives, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Oversee daily finance operations, including billing, credit control, cashiering, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, client payments, and staff expenses.
- Manage month-end finance operations for all in-house entities, ensuring timely bank reconciliation and client accounting processes.
- Collaborate with the Financial Controller and Management Accountant to monitor cash flow and ensure liquidity.
- Ensure compliance with law society regulations, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations, and other legal requirements.
- Establish and maintain robust financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Manage banking relationships, including maintenance of bank mandates and online platforms.
- Work closely with fee earners, partners, and other departments to resolve finance-related queries.
- Assist in financial investigations and the successful delivery of audits, ensuring timely reporting of findings.
Job Requirements:
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
- Experience in a senior finance operations role, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.
- Proven leadership and team management experience, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Experience in implementing process improvements and financial controls.
- In-depth knowledge of legal finance operations, including compliance and client accounting.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Familiarity with financial systems and legal practice management software (preferably Aderant).
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications, particularly Excel.
