Tax Compliance Senior

Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Tax Compliance Senior to play a pivotal role in delivering tax services across their diverse client base. This exciting opportunity serves as a bridge between trainees and managers, ideal for those experienced in preparing tax returns and eager to develop their leadership skills. As an integral member of the Tax Compliance team, you will manage a portfolio of personal and company tax returns, assist with technical calculations, and provide invaluable support by reviewing work prepared by junior staff. Additionally, you may contribute to the accounting function by preparing financial statements in accordance with applicable GAAP standards. This role reports to the Tax Compliance Manager and involves occasional collaboration with the wider team.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare Isle of Man and UK personal and corporate tax returns, including trust and inheritance tax returns, to a high standard and in line with regulatory deadlines.
  • Prepare and review UK and Manx income tax returns, company/corporation tax returns, and, where necessary, ATED returns.
  • Review draft tax returns prepared by trainees, providing constructive feedback and quality assurance as appropriate.
  • Monitor statutory deadlines and support timely client correspondence.
  • Liaise directly with clients and third parties regarding tax compliance queries and data gathering.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant Isle of Man and UK tax legislation, sharing insights and updates with colleagues.
  • Support trainees and junior staff, assisting with onboarding and training new team members on tax return processes and internal systems.
  • Identify areas for internal process improvement or automation and contribute to implementation where feasible.
  • Provide ad hoc assistance to the wider Private Clients Limited team.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience in preparing personal and corporate tax returns.
  • Strong understanding of Isle of Man and UK tax legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients and team members.
  • Detail-oriented mindset and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Experience in mentoring or training junior staff is advantageous.
  • Proficient in relevant accounting software and tax compliance tools.
