Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional with a strong background in general insurance, including captive management, broking, and underwriting, to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively and strategically about risk transfer and risk retention solutions. This role requires someone who can bring a broad spectrum of insurance knowledge and apply it effectively across diverse client needs and circumstances. You will be responsible for client insurance and reinsurance administration issues while liaising with the wider insurance team.
Job Duties:
- Responsible for client insurance and reinsurance administration issues, including liaison with the wider insurance team.
- Contribute to the preparation and review of board packs, attend board meetings, and present the insurance section to the Board.
- Review minutes and address matters arising following the board meeting.
- Establish underwriting and reinsurance programmes, ensuring the appropriate match of incoming and outgoing policies.
- Prepare and review policy wording and produce renewal reports.
- Prepare renewal presentation packs for reinsurers.
- Review and settle all claims and bordereau.
- Monitor reinsurance recoveries and liaise with reinsurers to collect outstanding amounts due.
- Liaise with external parties such as the GFSC, advocates, and auditors as required.
- Prepare insurance accounts, triangulations, and underwriting statistics monthly/quarterly.
- Obtain and verify all formal reinsurance documents, slips, cover notes, and policies against inward policy documents.
- Ensure all new policies, renewals, and cancellations are completed in a timely manner.
- Handle new client enquiries as allocated.
- Monitor and review solvency and capital adequacy, ensuring necessary action is taken to protect clients’ interests where needed.
- Mentor junior members of the team and review work completed by the Client Insurance Assistant.
Job Requirements:
- Proven experience in roles such as captive manager, broker, or underwriter, with a comprehensive understanding of the insurance industry.
- Strong analytical and creative thinking skills to address complex client challenges and develop innovative solutions.
- Ability to think beyond specific lines of business and apply insurance knowledge across a range of scenarios.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt skills and knowledge to meet the unique needs of diverse clients.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools is essential for day-to-day operations.
- Experience with VIPR systems is advantageous but not mandatory, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new systems highly valued.
