Our client is seeking an Operations Manager for their clothing retail stores, responsible for overseeing the effective daily operations to ensure operational excellence. This full-time position requires managing supply chains, enhancing in-store commercial performance, and delivering outstanding customer service. The role entails leading and motivating multiple store teams, including remote management. The successful candidate will optimise sales performance, manage costs, and ensure compliance with all operational processes.
Job Duties:
- Oversee and support the daily operations of clothing retail stores across Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man, and any future locations.
- Ensure consistent execution of strong operational standards, visual merchandising, and brand presentation.
- Manage and support the supply chain across all brands, ensuring compliance with agreed receipting and reporting processes to mitigate shrinkage risks and maintain accurate stockfiles.
- Develop and implement efficient processes to improve productivity and profitability.
- Utilise management information to monitor store performance, sales results, and KPIs, providing clear direction and corrective action where necessary.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety standards, and operational procedures.
- Coordinate with head office departments (HR, Finance, Buying, Marketing) to support store operations and resolve issues promptly.
- Lead regular operational reviews, stocktakes, and compliance checks.
- Drive sales growth by monitoring performance and implementing local initiatives to achieve targets.
- Analyse sales data and customer feedback to identify trends and opportunities.
- Work closely with the Buying Manager to ensure stores offer a catalogue that meets customer demand and showcases the brand effectively.
- Support store teams in delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining a positive shopping experience.
- Oversee the implementation of promotional campaigns and visual merchandising guidelines.
- Develop strong store teams capable of future growth.
- Lead, motivate, and develop Store Managers and their teams to achieve business objectives.
- Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular one-to-ones, and provide ongoing feedback through the appraisal process.
- Identify training needs and ensure coaching and development opportunities are provided.
- Promote a positive team culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Recognise high performance and address underperformance promptly and professionally.
- Ensure accurate stock management, including receipting of stock, managing replenishment, and maintaining stock files.
- Conduct regular in-store availability checks to maintain optimal stock levels, raising any issues with the Buying Manager.
- Monitor and control operating costs and P&L’s, ensuring budgets are achieved.
- Hold regular meetings with Buying and Logistics teams to ensure product availability and effective stock flow.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting on sales performance, operational compliance, and staffing levels as required.
- Communicate company updates, initiatives, and changes effectively to all store teams.
- Conduct store visits with senior management and share feedback and insights for continuous improvement.
