Senior Manager, Prudential Policy

Our client supervises the financial services industry on the island to ensure compliance with both conduct and prudential requirements, as well as adhering to anti-money laundering (AML), countering financing of terrorism (CFT), and countering proliferation financing (CPF) frameworks. They benefit from the unique opportunity of having the Regulator and entity Registrar operating under a single financial services commission. The Senior Manager, Prudential Policy role is a permanent, full-time position that requires a flexible and proactive leadership approach. This role reports to the Director of Policy and is focused on driving the development and enhancement of the prudential regulatory framework, particularly in relation to the funds sector.

Job Duties:

  • Ensuring Jersey has an effective prudential regime that balances regulatory standards with competitiveness as an International Financial Centre.
  • Monitoring, reviewing, and enhancing prudential codes and guidance, collaborating with the Government of Jersey on necessary law changes.
  • Developing practical regulatory guidance and frameworks for industry adoption and implementation.
  • Collaborating with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to establish sound policy positions.
  • Building, leading, and managing a competent team, supporting their development to produce high-quality outputs.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong, proven knowledge and experience of the legal and regulatory framework within the financial services industry in Jersey.
  • Beneficial knowledge and experience of prudential regulation gained in industry, government, or as a regulator.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in complex situations, balancing competing priorities to arrive at pragmatic policy positions.
  • Strong leadership skills with the capability to inspire and lead high-performing teams.
  • Practical knowledge of Jersey’s legal structures and product offerings.
  • Skills to anticipate and prepare for future policy needs and regulatory shifts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for persuasive communication with senior representatives in industry and government.
  • Robust stakeholder management and presentation skills to navigate complex subjects and respond to sensitive topics.
  • Resilience in managing competing priorities and adapting to change.
