High Net Worth Underwriter

Our client is seeking a High Net Worth Underwriter to join their team, responsible for underwriting and managing a portfolio of high-value personal insurance risks for affluent clients. This role is situated in the Channel Islands, where our client has established a reputation for delivering tailored insurance solutions with professionalism and integrity. The successful candidate will work closely with brokers, private client managers, and insurers to provide bespoke solutions while ensuring profitability and exceptional service delivery. This is a full-time role, with an emphasis on maintaining high standards and developing trusted relationships within the insurance sector. By contributing to process improvements and mentoring junior underwriters, you will play a vital role in the ongoing success of the business. Job Duties:

  • Analysing and underwriting complex high net worth personal insurance risks within delegated authority.
  • Managing a portfolio of high net worth clients, ensuring profitability and high service standards.
  • Identifying and securing new high net worth business through broker and intermediary engagement.
  • Building strong relationships with brokers, private client managers, and internal teams.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and risk frameworks.
  • Monitoring market trends to inform underwriting strategy and product development.
  • Collaborating with Claims, Risk, and Actuarial teams to manage risk and improve service.
  • Contributing to process improvement and underwriting guidelines.
  • Mentoring and supporting the development of junior underwriters.
  • Producing and interpreting underwriting reports to support informed decision-making.

Job Requirements:

  • Relevant professional qualification (or substantial progress towards) is preferred, e.g. DIP CII.
  • Proven experience in underwriting high net worth personal lines insurance (minimum 3-5 years preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of the high net worth market, including specialist products and client expectations.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-centric approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Familiarity with the Channel Islands regulatory environment is advantageous.
