Associate, Funds

Our client is seeking an Associate to join their dynamic Funds team in Jersey. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of an environment that values collaboration and innovation, where every individual’s contribution is valued. The Associate will support senior fee earners by providing technically sound legal advice directly to clients under appropriate supervision. They will draft a variety of documents and assist with transaction management whilst delivering excellent client service at all times. Additional responsibilities include contributing to fee estimates and new business proposals, recording chargeable hours, and managing work in progress along with outstanding debts in line with team targets. The successful candidate will also assist in keeping clients informed about the progress of their matters, understand the full range of services offered, and always look for opportunities to develop new client work. Engagement with ongoing legal and regulatory developments will be crucial, as will sharing knowledge with the team and aiding in the development of precedents.

Job Duties:

  • Support senior fee earners with legal advice and documentation under supervision
  • Assist with transaction management and maintain excellent client service
  • Contribute to fee estimates and new business proposals
  • Record chargeable hours aligned with personal targets
  • Manage work in progress and debts according to team targets
  • Keep clients updated on progress and costs incurred
  • Identify opportunities for new client work
  • Stay informed on legal and regulatory changes
  • Share knowledge and assist in developing precedents
  • Engage with relevant technology and business tools
  • Coach bursary students and summer interns as appropriate
  • Support the firm's strategic vision for 2030

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified Lawyer, ideally at NQ – 2 years PQE level
  • Excellent academic background with a 2:1 degree and Commendation/Distinction at LPC (or equivalent)
  • Relevant experience from a law firm environment
  • Strong drafting and written communication skills
  • Ability to foster productive relationships internally and externally
  • Capability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proactive approach to financial matters
  • Ability to identify business development opportunities and build networks
  • Familiarity with key technology, including Outlook and Word
