Senior Associate, Funds

Our client is seeking a Senior Associate to join their Jersey Funds team, creating an environment that fosters collaboration and innovation. In this role, the successful candidate will provide technically excellent legal advice on a range of issues while building and maintaining productive relationships with clients and intermediaries. As a senior fee earner, the individual will manage transactions, draft various documents, and ensure clients are well-informed regarding fees and disbursements. Responsibilities include delegating work to junior team members, contributing to business development activities, and actively participating in the development of precedents and practice notes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth, with the expectation of coaching and mentoring junior staff, as well as presenting training seminars as needed. The position operates under appropriate partner supervision and demands a proactive approach to identifying new client work while staying informed about relevant legal and regulatory developments.

Job Duties:

  • Provide legal advice directly to clients under appropriate partner supervision
  • Draft a range of documents and manage transactions
  • Responsible for the management of matters with appropriate partner supervision
  • Delegate work to juniors and supervise them attentively
  • Contribute to producing fee estimates and new business proposals
  • Record chargeable hours and assist with managing WIP and debt in line with team targets
  • Keep clients updated on fees and disbursements for each matter
  • Serve as a significant point of contact in your area of expertise for clients
  • Generate repeat business from existing clients
  • Participate in approved business development activities
  • Understand the full range of services offered and develop new client work
  • Share knowledge and assist with developing precedents
  • Contribute to developing know-how, including practice notes and publications
  • Prepare and deliver training seminars internally and externally
  • Stay updated with technology and business tools relevant to the role
  • Mentor and coach paralegals, trainees, and new joiners
  • Develop the highest standards of professional knowledge and ability
  • Support the organisation’s "2030 Vision"

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified Lawyer with typically 5+ years of PQE
  • Excellent academic background, including a 2:1 degree and Commendation/Distinction at LPC (or equivalent)
  • Relevant experience from a law firm, demonstrating good performance over the last two financial years
  • Excellent drafting and written communication skills
  • Ability to provide sound technical advice and guidance to clients
  • Capacity to manage files with minimal Partner input
  • Established and recognised in an area of expertise
  • Strong relationship-building skills, both internally and externally
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Proactive in ensuring financial matters are up to date
  • Ability to identify business development opportunities and build a professional network
  • Familiarity with key technology (including Outlook and Word)
  • Positive approach to change
