Senior Associate Compliance, Independence and Ethics

Our client is seeking a Senior Associate in Compliance, Independence and Ethics to join their team in either Jersey or Guernsey. This full-time position involves a contracted 37.5 hours per week within the Business Enablement – Ethics and Compliance Pillar. The successful candidate will work closely with the leadership team to support various compliance, independence, and ethics activities and projects. The role is integral to ensuring that the firm’s practices align with the rigorous standards set out in compliance, independence, and ethics. As part of the compliance efforts, the firm emphasises a strong ethical culture, pivotal in fostering relationships with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues. The role will also involve supporting essential processes and conducting investigations in alignment with compliance policies. This position will not have direct reports, but it will involve interaction with multiple teams and stakeholders.

Job Duties:

  • Perform various processes and operate controls within the Compliance team.
  • Assist with annual reviews of policies and procedures.
  • Review internal applications and consultations in line with the policy.
  • Investigate breaches and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Conduct compliance monitoring tests and prepare reports on results.
  • Maintain and update compliance registers and manage assigned tasks in compliance systems.
  • Assist with quarterly reporting to relevant committees.
  • Maintain process documentation and internal communications.
  • Support the delivery of training and prepare training materials for new joiners.
  • Organise team meetings, set agendas, and track actions.
  • Collaborate with remote teams and colleagues across different locations.

Job Requirements:

  • A relevant professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, ICAEW) is beneficial.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work to deadlines.
  • Tech-savvy with a willingness to master internal systems.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration across teams.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
  • Experience in audit, compliance, or risk management is essential.
  • Knowledge of auditor independence rules and financial crime compliance is desirable.
  • Experience in coaching and training junior team members.
