Junior Underwriter

Our client is seeking a Junior Underwriter to join their team, located in the Channel Islands. This entry-level opportunity allows individuals to gain hands-on experience in both commercial and personal lines underwriting. The successful candidate will support the underwriting team by assessing risk, processing applications, and organising surveyor visits, all while learning the essential fundamentals of insurance underwriting across a diverse portfolio of clients and policies. You will be expected to deliver a high-quality underwriting service while working closely with colleagues to achieve business objectives. Job Duties:

  • Work with and support colleagues to ensure the delivery of a high-quality underwriting service and meet business objectives.
  • Take personal responsibility for delivering top-notch service while rising to challenges.
  • Develop knowledge continually to achieve maximum effectiveness in the role.
  • Meet the expectations and requirements of both internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of customers' needs to ensure high-quality service.

  • Refer to the Team Manager for guidance as necessary.
  • Deliver results by challenging conventional thinking, managing risks, and involving others.

Job Requirements:

  • Mathematics and English language GCSE grades A to C (or equivalent).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a professional, approachable, and friendly manner.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a knack for making decisions based on available information.
  • Capability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly with team members.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry tasks.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
