Financial Controller

Our client is seeking a commercially minded Financial Controller to lead and evolve their corporate finance function at the management company level. This role will be based in Guernsey and supports the Internal Finance function, reporting to the Finance Director. As Financial Controller, you will play a central role in enhancing core finance operations across various areas. The responsibilities include payroll, cash management, expense controls, statutory reporting, audit leadership, bookkeeping oversight, and Group consolidation. You will ensure robust and scalable processes while providing clear financial visibility across corporate entities. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the Fund Operations team and external advisors on international tax coordination and compliance. This position is situated in a multi-entity investment environment where precision, control, and proactive improvements are of utmost importance.

Job Duties:

  • Manage end-to-end corporate finance operations, including payroll, cash flow, expenses, and bookkeeping oversight.
  • Oversee month-end and quarter-end management reporting across multiple legal entities.
  • Lead audit processes and coordinate activities with external auditors.
  • Conduct cash management and forecasting to support strategic decision-making.
  • Establish expense control frameworks and governance standards.
  • Supervise Group consolidation and reporting oversight across international management companies.
  • Assist with international tax coordination, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Drive continuous process improvement and systems optimisation for enhanced efficiencies.
  • Provide general operational and office support, assisting with facilities management and ad-hoc administrative tasks to ensure smooth business operations.

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with strong technical foundations.
  • Experience in corporate and financial accounting, preferably within investment management, venture capital, private equity, or similar regulated environments.
  • A proactive and hands-on operator with a can-do attitude, willing to engage in tasks beyond the core job description.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
  • Ability to balance high-level process design with hands-on execution.
  • Detail-oriented with solid system skills; experience with Xero, Joiin, MayDay is a plus.
  • Passionate about scalable, high-quality finance operations.
  • Excellent communicator and collaborative partner across teams and geographical locations.
