Compliance Manager

Our client is seeking a Compliance Manager to support both Isle of Man and UK regulated activities. This full-time role is based in the Isle of Man, with working hours from 9am to 5pm, including a 1-hour lunch break. The position is expected to run until April 2026. The successful candidate will actively ensure that adequate and effective controls are in place to mitigate against regulatory, reputational, legal, and operational risks. The Compliance Manager will collaborate closely with the Compliance team and other Senior Managers to uphold their duties under the Fitness and Propriety guidance and Senior Managers Certification Regime. Responsibilities will include developing a working knowledge of applicable legislation and ensuring compliance within the organisation. The role also encompasses managing regulatory oversight and providing ongoing support to the business in regulatory matters. The position demands strong communication skills and the ability to work independently, whilst being a key part of the Compliance team across both the Isle of Man and UK.

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of relevant legislation and regulation.
  • Review and analyse new legislation, assessing its impact on the business, and embed changes within company policies and procedures.
  • Identify compliance vulnerabilities and risks, supporting corrective actions.
  • Assist with the management of the Compliance Monitoring Plan, ensuring timely testing and reporting.
  • Maintain regulatory registers and logs required by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and Isle of Man Financial Services Authority.
  • Support effective issue management and risk tracking with appropriate reporting.
  • Provide compliance advice and consultancy to the business.
  • Support regulatory inspections and the delivery of a compliance training programme.
  • Promote risk and compliance awareness within the business.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in compliance monitoring within the banking industry.
  • Relevant professional qualification or demonstrable industry experience (e.g. Compliance/Risk/Internal Audit/Legal).
  • Working knowledge of Isle of Man FSA Rules and associated guidance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a systematic approach to work.
  • Ability to manage regulatory changes effectively.
  • Confidentiality and strong ethical principles.
  • Practical understanding of Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and transaction monitoring.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of UK FCA and PRA Rules, stakeholder management, and governance expectations.
