Finance Assistant

Our client is seeking a Finance Assistant to be a key member of their finance team, providing comprehensive support in a full-time, permanent position. The successful candidate will be office-based, working for 7 hours each day. The role involves processing payments, conducting monthly bank reconciliations, and monitoring bank accounts with the goal of ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The Finance Assistant will also be responsible for producing weekly cash balance reports to meet client requirements, processing and allocating receipts, as well as posting entries into the SUN system. Additional responsibilities include maintaining archiving spreadsheets, ensuring the proper scanning and filing of all transactions, and assisting other team members as needed. This position demands a strong attention to detail, organisation, and the ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Job Duties:

  • Process payments (electronic payments, telegraphic transfer)
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations
  • Monitor bank accounts and update cashbook spreadsheets
  • Monitor inward bank statements and reconcile against cashbook spreadsheets
  • Produce weekly cash balance reports in line with client requirements
  • Process and allocate receipts (cheques, cash, and telegraphic transfers)
  • Post entries into the SUN system
  • Process purchase and sales invoices
  • Maintain archiving spreadsheets and ensure that archiving is up to date
  • Facilitate the scanning and filing of all transactions
  • Perform daily deliveries and collection of documents
  • Assist other members of the finance team as required
  • Undertake general office administration duties

Job Requirements:

  • Experience with banking systems (essential)
  • Numerate with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Well-organised with the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Capable of working well under pressure and achieving set targets
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic about working in a busy team
  • Strong communication skills, as the role involves contact with other departments, external directors, and banks
  • Some knowledge of book-keeping
  • Experience with the SUN general ledger system (desirable but not essential)
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word
