Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting

Our client is an esteemed financial institution with a remarkable history and a commitment to providing innovative financial services and guidance to a diverse client base. This Senior Accountant role is a full-time position based in Guernsey, reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Financial Reporting team, which is responsible for the preparation of annual statutory accounts and interim financial reports for fiduciary and fund clients. These reports are produced in accordance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards. The role primarily focuses on the asset owner segment of the fiduciary client portfolio, which includes pension trusts, endowments, and corporate entities representing strategic institutional clients. The position also involves liaising with relationship managers, assisting in the audit process, and providing timely financial reports to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and regulatory compliance.

Job Duties:

  • Maintain accounting system records, including bank reconciliations and accruals accounting; the process is semi-automated and requires clearing exceptions.
  • Prepare and review financial reporting for client entities, including trusts and companies, adhering to best practices and relevant reporting standards.
  • Liaise with relationship and account managers to ensure all key accounting activities are accurately captured in accordance with FRS102/IFRS or relevant accounting standards.
  • Coordinate the audit process as necessary, serving as the client contact point, which may include annual travel to visit clients in Saudi Arabia.
  • Assist in the preparation and completion of tax and regulatory filings.

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent IT skills, particularly advanced Excel (including pivot tables), Word, and Teams.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting standards (FRS102/IFRS) and Guernsey Trust/Company Law.
  • Experience in preparing accounts in a fiduciary or financial services environment.
  • Experience in preparing accounts for consolidated groups, particularly those with 100% ownership and over 100 subsidiaries, would be advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail with accurate reporting capabilities.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across jurisdictions as part of a team.
  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA or ACA).
