Our client is seeking a qualified lawyer to join their In-House Legal function on a contract basis, for a period of 9 to 12 months. They are open to considering candidates looking for reduced hours (28 hours per week minimum) as well as full-time opportunities. Reporting to the Managing Legal Counsel, this role will involve supporting the In-House Counsel and Corporate Governance team on a variety of legal matters, primarily focusing on the corporate administration services business. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal guidance to senior management and other key stakeholders, ensuring compliance with legal obligations, and contributing to the efficiency of the service provided by the legal team.
Job Duties:
- Provide legal support to managing legal counsel and the wider In-House Counsel and Corporate Governance team.
- Assist in leading certain projects and business-as-usual matters within the corporate administration services business.
- Collaborate with various business stakeholders, including directors and departments such as Human Resources, Risk and Compliance, Information Security, and Marketing.
- Advise on the group structure and intragroup legal obligations related to the business.
- Offer advisory services to senior management on a wide range of matters, including corporate governance and regulatory obligations.
- Liaise with managing legal counsel and external advisers when necessary.
- Maintain key corporate and operational documentation, such as articles of association and shareholders agreements.
- Assist in client engagement processes, including drafting and negotiating service agreements.
- Coordinate approval processes for decisions made by operating boards.
- Attend meetings of in-house entities/committees as required.
- Address ad-hoc legal queries from the business.
- Review contracts with third-party suppliers from a legal and commercial perspective.
- Provide advice on data protection matters alongside qualified professionals.
- Review policies and procedures as necessary.
- Contribute to regulatory compliance processes.
- Support the wider In-House Legal team during periods of absence.
Job Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 6 years' Post-Qualified Experience (PQE).
- Experience in a cross-jurisdictional/offshore corporate and regulatory environment is advantageous.
- In-house legal experience is welcomed but not compulsory.
- Knowledge of AML legislation and data protection frameworks is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Superior organisational skills, with the ability to efficiently manage time and prioritise tasks.
- Adaptable to change and supportive of innovative tools and processes.
- Ability to consider organisation-wide implications in decision making.
