Officer, Supervision

Our client is seeking an Officer within the Supervision Division to join their Central Authorisations team in St Helier, Jersey. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective regulation of Jersey's financial services industry, which operates under a comprehensive compliance framework. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the licensing of financial institutions, registration of Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs), and authorisation of various entities. This full-time position offers an opportunity for professional growth within a dynamic regulatory environment, as well as interaction with a wide range of stakeholders in the industry. Key duties include the assessment of applications and cessations to ensure they meet regulatory standards, maintaining confidence and stability during market exits, and contributing to the continuous improvement of internal practices. Additionally, the Officer will support initiatives aimed at enhancing the organisation’s reputation as a leading financial services regulator.

Job Duties:

  • Assess and determine applications and cessations effectively, ensuring all market entrants and products meet required regulatory standards.
  • Complete market exits safely and in a timely manner to maintain confidence and stability.
  • Document risk-based decisions clearly to facilitate seamless handovers to Supervision.
  • Maintain accurate and complete regulatory data with clear individual accountability.
  • Continuously improve internal working practices to enhance efficiency, consistency, and quality of delivery.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, leading to improved application quality and case handling efficiency.
  • Support and implement change initiatives to drive improvements in processes, expertise, and overall business integrity.

Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrable judgement and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of international regulatory standards alongside an understanding of the Jersey regulatory framework, legal structures, and product offerings.
  • Ability to produce clear and appropriate oral and written communication.
  • Excellent workload management skills with the ability to adapt flexibly to competing priorities.
  • Awareness of digital assets and VASPs, including relevant regulatory developments and risks, with a desire to build expertise in this evolving area.
