Senior Manager, Regulatory Risk

This role involves supporting the Chief Risk Officer in the ongoing development and delivery of the regulatory risk strategy and divisional plan. The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive and Board and will be directly involved in shaping both national and regulatory risk appetite. Exposure to emerging and complex risk themes, including geopolitical developments and innovative technologies such as digital assets, is expected. The position is vital in leading the development and ongoing review of the organisation’s regulatory risk appetite, ensuring consistency in decision-making across the organisation. This role will also focus on enabling a coordinated response to evolving regulatory and national risks through effective collaboration. It supports the embedding of regulatory risk appetites aligned to organisational strategy and national priorities to guide informed decision-making. The candidate will play a key role in delivering forward-looking analysis to identify emerging regulatory risks and will contribute to strengthening the collective understanding of financial crime risks.

Job Duties:

  • Lead the development and ongoing review of the regulatory risk appetite, aligned to strategy and national risk understanding.
  • Enable a coordinated and forward-looking response to evolving regulatory and national risks through effective collaboration across divisions.
  • Provide risk insight and constructive challenge on key strategic initiatives to ensure risks are well understood and appropriately assessed.
  • Deliver forward-looking analysis and horizon scanning to identify emerging regulatory risks.
  • Provide data-driven insight to support National Risk Assessments, collaborating with other competent authorities.
  • Deliver training and outreach to improve regulatory risk understanding among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Act as a member of the Senior Management Team and deputise for the Chief Risk Officer as required.
  • Support the development and growth of direct reports.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a regulated financial services environment, with expertise in risk management or compliance.
  • Strong understanding of financial services regulation, including knowledge of financial crime.
  • Well-developed understanding of Jersey’s financial services industry and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent engagement style, demonstrating collaboration and proactivity in achieving strong outcomes.
  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory issues effectively.
