Senior Associate, Data Assurance, Risk Assurance Services

This role involves a full-time commitment of 37.5 contracted hours per week, based in either Guernsey or Jersey. The successful individual will be part of the Risk Assurance Services team, which focuses on helping clients identify, measure, and manage their risk profiles effectively. The Data Assurance specialists provide critical support in data analytics and information risk management assurance for external financial statement audits. This position offers the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of clients and be involved in strategic initiatives that help shape the future direction of the practice. Additionally, the role requires the application of specialised skills in data transformation and analysis, alongside a strong emphasis on technology tools and AI applications. Candidates will work closely within assurance teams and directly with clients, contributing to the effectiveness of audits while ensuring compliance and governance standards are met.

Job Duties:

  • Lead and support Data Assurance teams in delivering external financial statement audit engagements.
  • Conduct planning procedures and client walkthroughs to understand the IT environment, associated systems, reports, and databases.
  • Design and develop data analytical procedures to enhance audit testing efficiency.
  • Maintain documentation for data analytical procedures to meet audit standards.
  • Utilise digital assets and tools to oversee testing.
  • Apply data analysis techniques to assess IT General Controls, application controls, and dependencies, including testing key reports and interfaces.
  • Undertake project management tasks to ensure Data Assurance engagements are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Promote the integration of technology and AI within the Risk Assurance team.
  • Assist in training and upskilling staff on the latest tools, providing coaching during client engagements.
  • Foster relationships with senior client management teams and develop industry knowledge.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, Information Technology, or Business Studies.
  • Formal accounting qualification or part qualification with a focus on Data and aspirations towards Data Science/Data Engineering.
  • Experience in data transformation and analytics, with a strong background in consulting and audit.
  • Proficiency in internal or external audit and assurance engagements as a data assurance specialist.
  • Excellent project management skills, including strong organisational abilities and a proactive work ethic.
  • Proven experience in developing junior staff and contributing to team success.
  • Strong communication skills, coupled with adept report writing capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and build effective relationships.
  • Understanding of accounting and financial information systems, with knowledge of data structures and processes.
