Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant role is pivotal in providing high-quality accounting and financial reporting services to a diverse portfolio of clients, particularly within the financial services sector. Responsibilities include managing local trading businesses, SPVs, holding companies, and private client vehicles, as well as potentially investment funds and related structures. Daily tasks encompass the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with FRS 102 and IFRS, managing tax computations and corporate reporting, and ensuring compliance with necessary accounting frameworks. The successful candidate will also mentor junior team members, contribute to client development, and implement efficiency improvements. This full-time position requires excellent communication skills to build strong client relationships and ensure seamless collaboration across teams. Additionally, the role emphasises a commitment to maintaining quality and technical accuracy in all deliverables.

Job Duties:

  • Manage a portfolio of accounting clients, including local trading and commercial businesses and various structures.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management accounts, and reporting packs.
  • Prepare tax computations, tax returns, and ensure adherence to corporate reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting frameworks and filing deadlines.
  • Review work prepared by junior staff and ensure it meets internal quality standards.
  • Serve as a day-to-day contact for clients, building constructive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and additional services.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of junior team members.
  • Support the preparation of proposals and fee estimates for new clients.

Job Requirements:

  • ACA / ACCA (or equivalent qualification) is essential.
  • 3 – 7 years of post-qualification experience required.
  • Knowledge of the Jersey / Channel Islands regulatory environment and exposure to fund accounting is desirable but not essential.
  • Proficiency with consolidation systems or accounting software such as CCH, CaseWare, QuickBooks, or Xero.
  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP (FRS 102) and financial instruments.
  • Capability to interpret complex structures and transactions effectively.
