An experienced and commercially aware Business Development Manager is sought to support the growth and development of the Banking and Finance service line across multiple jurisdictions, including Jersey, Guernsey, London, and Dubai. This full-time position entails working closely with the global Banking and Finance Business Development lead, associated partners, senior lawyers, and marketing colleagues to drive revenue growth. Responsibilities will include developing and implementing client-focused strategies, strengthening client relationships, enhancing market profile, and identifying new business opportunities. The successful candidate will engage in strategic planning and financial management to ensure alignment with commercial objectives, presenting a proactive approach to identifying and progressing new business initiatives. Furthermore, this role will require effective use of data to inform key outreach efforts, enhancing the firm's overall market presence. The position is designed for an individual with a strong understanding of the legal and professional services environments, particularly within Banking and Finance.
Job Duties:
- Collaborate with the global Banking and Finance Business Development lead and relevant stakeholders to create and execute Banking and Finance business development plans for the applicable jurisdictions.
- Manage annual planning, budgeting, and prioritisation of activities that align with commercial objectives.
- Identify, qualify, and progress new business opportunities, including cross-practice and cross-jurisdictional initiatives.
- Maintain effective lists of target clients and intermediaries to support focused partner engagement.
- Produce high-quality distributions for communications including client mailings and thought leadership campaigns.
- Drive effective use of the CRM system to track opportunities, activity, and client engagement.
- Manage the BD strategy for key industry conferences, ensuring targeted planning, messaging, and post-event follow-up.
- Conduct high-quality submissions for legal directories and oversee the creation of tailored pitches and proposals.
- Act as the main contact for bank panel initiatives and coordinate responses effectively.
- Build a network of industry peers and maintain relationships to enhance market intelligence.
Job Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications and over 7 years of experience in business development within a legal or professional services environment.
- Strong commercial understanding of the legal and Banking and Finance market, with the ability to translate insights into effective business development strategies.
- Proven ability to develop and implement commercially focused business development plans and initiatives.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all seniority levels.
- Strong team player with a proactive and pragmatic approach to collaboration.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, alongside proficient project management capabilities.
- Experience in CRM systems and relevant BD technologies is essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an openness to adopting new technology for enhanced efficiency.
