Senior Client Accountant

This role involves close and regular interaction with all members of the Family Office, Client Support team, Accounting, and Investment Administration Team, as well as Directors and Managers of the Family Office and various internal and external business contacts. The primary responsibility of the Senior Client Accountant is to prepare financial information and reports under the supervision of the Head of Client Accounting and the Director/Managers of the Family Office. The incumbent will work alongside the head of department to manage, organise, train, and technically develop the Client Support team in Jersey. A significant aspect of the role includes technical reviewing of reporting from the team to ensure standards and quality are maintained. The successful candidate will be expected to adhere to strict deadlines while managing financial records. This position will play an essential part in maintaining operational efficiency and accuracy within the team.

Job Duties:

  • Complete financial recording of transactions within wealth management structures, including companies, trusts, and assets held in person.
  • Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with minutes and agreements signed by Trustees and Directors.
  • Prepare financial reports including financial statements, investment reporting, management reporting, and tax reporting within strict deadlines.
  • Maintain up-to-date accounting ledgers by reconciling investment, bank, and loan accounts.
  • Arrange payments with straight-through processing of accounting treatment and follow up on transaction execution.
  • Review automated entries on core bank accounts to ensure correct accounting and clear any rejected entries weekly.
  • Assist with organisation of team tasks and the establishment of internal processes, standards, and workflows.
  • Collaborate with accountants to ensure internal processes and standards are adhered to.
  • Facilitate appropriate training for team members.
  • Work closely with other units within the Family Office Division to improve and automate processes as much as possible.
  • Assist in the implementation and acceptance of new reporting tools.
  • Support team management functions including monitoring task boxes and activities, performance and appraisal reviews, training, and handling relationship manager queries.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in the trust and company industry.
  • University degree, qualified CAT, ACA or ACCA.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in the financial or wealth management industry is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of vanilla and sophisticated financial products/investments.
  • Working knowledge of UK tax regulations.
  • Strong understanding of multi-currency accounting and investment and treasury products.
  • Strong analytical skills, good numeracy, and commercial awareness.
  • Competent in computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook, and modern financial accounting packages).
