The Senior Compliance and Risk (Onboarding) Analyst plays a crucial role within a client-focused law firm dedicated to maintaining high standards of regulatory compliance and professional integrity. This position involves supporting and strengthening the growing compliance team by ensuring adherence to all applicable legal, regulatory, and professional obligations. The successful candidate will be responsible for client due diligence (CDD), AML/CFT/CPF onboarding, and ongoing monitoring requirements across all entities and client relationships within the firm. Collaboration with fee-earners, compliance colleagues, and other stakeholders is essential to ensure compliance processes are efficiently executed. The role requires a keen understanding of compliance requirements, regulation monitoring, and risk assessment to maintain robust governance practices. The analyst will also assist in the development and implementation of compliance policies, procedures, governance documentation, and contribute to training initiatives that promote an awareness of compliance culture. This is a full-time position, and the firm values a proactive approach to managing compliance and risk within its operations.
Job Duties:
- Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of compliance policies and procedures.
- Ensure firm-wide awareness and adherence to relevant regulatory reporting requirements.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the firm and support impact analysis activities.
- Manage client onboarding, including identity verification of UBOs and risk assessments.
- Review and maintain accurate CDD records to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Conduct searches using screening software and open-source information.
- Analyse information, identifying outstanding due diligence requirements.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders regarding onboarding and compliance requirements.
- Monitor ongoing client activity, flagging any suspicious risks.
- Maintain accurate records and audit trails while assisting with onboarding queries and compliance-related requests.
- Support business transformation and compliance improvement projects.
- Assist in identifying, assessing, and mitigating compliance and operational risks.
- Support internal audits and compliance reviews while maintaining compliance-related risk registers.
- Conduct CMP reviews and testing activities alongside relevant risk assessments for outsourced and supplier relationships.
- Develop, draft, update, and maintain compliance policies and documentation, ensuring secure storage of compliance records.
- Support the delivery of compliance training to staff and promote a positive compliance culture.
- Prepare risk and compliance reports for senior management while providing technical guidance and support for compliance-related queries.
- Respond to compliance queries, escalating complex matters as necessary, and support regulatory inspections or audits.
Job Requirements:
- Preferably hold a compliance or relevant qualification, though those nearing completion of a relevant qualification may be considered.
- Previous experience in a compliance, client onboarding, or regulatory role is essential.
- Strong understanding of AML/CFT/CPF requirements and compliance best practices, coupled with a good working knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Confident in reviewing CDD files, identifying risk indicators, and escalating issues appropriately.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills required.
- Strong communication and report writing skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
