People Services Advisor

This role entails a broad and varied HR Generalist position, offering support across the full employee lifecycle and all areas of the HR function. The postholder will deliver effective day-to-day HR administration and operational support, taking ownership of key people processes including recruitment and selection, onboarding and induction, absence management, employee relations matters, performance management, and payroll administration. Working closely with the HR Director, the advisor will provide proactive HR guidance to managers and employees, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and organisational policies. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of HR initiatives that promote employee engagement, development, and organisational objectives. This position supports a friendly, enjoyable, and supportive work environment where honesty and integrity are paramount. The People Services Department is responsible for operational and strategic HR across the business.

Job Duties:

  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including preparing job adverts, shortlisting candidates, coordinating interviews, and supporting managers with candidate selection.
  • Collaborate with managers to develop and review job descriptions and person specifications.
  • Ensure timely and professional communication with applicants and manage the collection of references.
  • Prepare employment contracts and all associated onboarding documentation.
  • Conduct return-to-work meetings following employee absences and monitor absence levels.
  • Provide first-line advice and guidance to managers and employees on employee relations matters, including absence management and performance management.
  • Conduct investigations, prepare documentation, and attend formal meetings related to employee relations processes.
  • Provide advice and guidance on performance management processes and administer the performance review process.
  • Support the planning, organisation, and coordination of internal and external training programmes.
  • Maintain the payroll database, ensuring employee information is accurate and up to date.

Job Requirements:

  • Proficient in Microsoft packages and HR policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and HR databases (HiBob and Ocerli Payroll).
  • CIPD qualified desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a personable approach.
  • Effective problem solving, self-management, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work on one's initiative and multitask effectively.
  • Organised, accurate, and logical with a calm demeanor under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate empathy.
