Our client is seeking a full-time Head of Banking to lead their Prudential Supervision Division. This senior leadership role is pivotal in overseeing the regulatory framework for the Island’s banking sector, as well as other assigned sectors. The successful candidate will ensure effective prudential and conduct supervision of banks, payment services providers, and credit unions, consistently applying risk-based and proportionate supervisory practices. Located in the Island, this position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives and maintain high standards of compliance. As the Head of Banking, you will provide leadership and direction to the Banking Supervision team while contributing to the wider objectives of the Authority, supporting cultural leadership and strategic risk management.
JOB DUTIES:
- Lead the Prudential Supervision Division’s banking supervision and regulatory frameworks.
- Oversee the risk-based supervision of banks and credit unions while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Manage and develop a professional team to optimise the delivery of supervisory priorities and divisional plans.
- Implement and deliver the Authority’s Supervisory Methodology for banking and related entities.
- Formulate and execute supervisory plans by engaging with stakeholders and reviewing firm-specific risks.
- Identify and assess trends in banking-sector risk and supervisory themes.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of regulatory returns and supervisory information submitted by banks.
- Manage complex supervisory matters, ensuring timely communication and escalation where necessary.
- Oversee the management of data quality improvements to enhance overall supervisory effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with industry stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Produce periodic reports and presentations on banking supervisory matters for the executive team and governance forums.
- Actively support a change management approach to improve efficiencies within the authority's operations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- A professional qualification relevant to the financial services industry is essential.
- Demonstrated extensive experience within operational, banking, compliance, or regulatory roles is essential.
- Leadership experience in a strategic management role with collaborative working style is desirable.
