Deputy Managing Director

Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Deputy Managing Director (DMD) in Jersey to partner with the Jersey Managing Director in leading the overall performance, growth, governance, and operational management of the business across both private wealth and institutional services. This full-time role involves acting as the operational leader for the jurisdiction, driving strategic execution, financial performance, client service excellence, regulatory compliance, and people leadership, while working closely with the Board, Executive Committee, and senior stakeholders. This is a high-profile leadership role with significant influence across the Jersey business and presents a possible succession pathway to Managing Director, offering an exceptional opportunity for a proven senior leader with strong fiduciary, operational, and commercial expertise. The DMD will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the business, collaborating with senior management and team leaders to support growth initiatives. This position requires strong operational discipline, leadership capabilities, and sound judgment to ensure resilience and efficiency within the organisation.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Support the MD in setting and delivering the jurisdictional strategy.
  • Translate strategy into clear priorities, plans, and execution across the business.
  • Work closely with the Board and Executive Committee to align direction and outcomes.
  • Provide leadership across the business, acting for the MD as required.
  • Partner with the MD to deliver revenue, profitability, and fee income targets.
  • Drive execution of business plans to meet objectives and deadlines.
  • Support new business development and growth of existing client relationships.
  • Maintain consistent, high-quality client service standards.
  • Oversee client relationships and service delivery across the portfolio.
  • Build and manage relationships with key clients and intermediaries.
  • Support the onboarding of new clients alongside business development teams.
  • Act as a director on client structures where necessary.
  • Support the MD and the Risk Team in ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation and effectiveness of policies, procedures, and control frameworks.
  • Assist the Chief Risk Officer and Compliance team with regulators as needed.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate business and client-related risks.
  • Ensure operational delivery across business lines is efficient and timely.
  • Drive operational discipline, process improvement, and scalability.
  • Support resource allocation and management to meet objectives.
  • Spearhead transformational change projects within locations.
  • Serve as a Director on the Affiliate Lead board of Jersey and OpCos.
  • Contribute to transparent reporting on operational, financial, and risk performance.
  • Represent the business in meetings with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to budgets, forecasts, and financial plans, focusing on productivity and efficiency.
  • Monitor financial performance against targets, identifying variances and driving corrective actions.
  • Lead and develop teams across the business, reinforcing performance standards.
  • Promote a high-performance, collaborative working environment.
  • Own the quality and consistency of client delivery across service lines.
  • Intervene in complex client matters to protect outcomes and reputation.
  • Drive adoption of Group systems, technology, and processes for consistency.
  • Lead integration efforts of legacy and acquired businesses.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Qualified professional in accounting, law, or as a Trust Practitioner (STEP or ICSA).
  • Minimum ten years of post-qualification experience with at least five years at Board level.
  • Excellent understanding of fiduciary and fund services businesses, including regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a positive attitude and problem-solving ability.
  • Proactive approach with a strong "get things done" mentality.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in managing and developing teams.
  • Strong team player prioritising business outcomes.
