Financial Crime Analyst (Level 4)

Our client is seeking a Financial Crime Analyst at Level 4 to join their team in Guernsey. In this role, you will support the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), Deputy MLRO, and senior Compliance colleagues in addressing financial crime matters. You will contribute to the effective second-line oversight, advisory services, and monitoring within the framework of the Guernsey insurance business. The successful candidate will assist in the implementation and maintenance of a risk-based approach to anti-financial crime measures, including those relating to anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorist financing (CFT), sanctions, bribery, and tax evasion. Your collaboration with various departments will be key in fostering a culture of financial crime risk awareness and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Support the MLRO, Deputy MLRO, and senior Compliance colleagues with financial crime-related activities, including suspicious activity reporting and record keeping.
  • Assist in reviewing internal Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and escalate relevant matters for consideration by senior colleagues.
  • Ensure that internal SAR disclosures are accurately documented and retained in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive audit trails of SAR activity, including supporting information and risk mitigation actions.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the suspicious activity reporting framework and identify trends for review.
  • Provide practical support to the business regarding the recognition and escalation of suspicious activities and concerns.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality concerning SARs, investigations, and related matters.
  • Monitor regulatory developments impacting financial crime and compliance obligations in Guernsey.
  • Comply with fit and proper obligations while promoting a strong compliance culture.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • You will need relevant experience in a financial crime, AML, or compliance role within the financial services sector, ideally in life insurance or wealth management environments.
  • A good working knowledge of Guernsey AML/CFT/CPF requirements and relevant financial services legislation is essential.
  • A formal qualification in Compliance, Financial Crime, or AML is desirable or should be actively pursued.
  • You should possess an understanding of customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, and suspicious activity reporting requirements.
  • Awareness of insurance products and associated financial crime risks is needed.
  • Experience in preparing management information (MI), regulatory submissions, and written analyses for review by senior colleagues is important.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and compliance-related software is required.
  • Familiarity with developments in AML technology and data analytics is desirable.
