HR Officer

Our client is looking for an HR Officer to join their team, playing a vital role in executing day-to-day human resources operations. This position includes responsibilities such as talent acquisition, offering support to employees, managing employee records, and addressing learning and development (L&D) needs. Located in a jurisdiction with an international presence, you will contribute to a collaborative environment while ensuring HR practices align with employment legislation. The role promises a dynamic context where you will engage with a variety of HR functions, fostering positive employee relations and enhancing organisational effectiveness.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Act as a key point of contact for general HR queries from employees and managers.
  • Administer HR policies and provide advice to colleagues regarding adherence to these policies.
  • Ensure consistent application of HR practices in line with employment legislation and organisational policies.
  • Conduct research and prepare information on various HR topics as required.
  • Manage the recruitment and selection process, coordinating with managers on shortlisting and conducting interviews while ensuring timely communication with applicants.
  • Oversee the new joiner process, ensuring seamless integration and completion of contractual documentation.
  • Conduct inductions for new employees and individuals on work experience.
  • Liaise with educational institutions and relevant departments to coordinate work experience placements.
  • Provide support on employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions, grievances, absence management, and performance-related cases.
  • Monitor and manage absence, ensuring accurate records and necessary documentation are in place.
  • Ensure performance reviews are conducted and documented in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate long service awards and recognition initiatives in accordance with established procedures.
  • Manage the leaver process, ensuring all documentation and exit activities are completed efficiently.
  • Maintain and enhance an understanding of HR systems for data input and management.
  • Prepare and upkeep employee-related data in Sage while ensuring compliance with internal controls.
  • Maintain organisational charts and HR documentation accurately.
  • Manage HR communications and correspondence, maintaining a professional tone in all communications.
  • Ensure employee communications are clearly drafted and disseminated.
  • Contribute innovative ideas aimed at positively impacting HR functions.
  • Travel may be required to various jurisdictions including Guernsey and Jersey.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least two years of experience in a generalist HR or Learning and Development role.
  • A CIPD Level 3 qualification or equivalent is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of employment legislation across various jurisdictions, including the Channel Islands and Isle of Man.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and clearly with all stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated capability in time management and organisation, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to work independently using initiative.
  • Maintain high standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • A positive and flexible approach to work dynamics is essential.
  • Proficiency in HR systems and general office software.
