Responsible Gambling Officer

Our client is seeking a Responsible Gambling Officer to join their Compliance department on a full-time, permanent basis on the Isle of Man. This role is pivotal in ensuring that customers engage in responsible gaming, with a focus on conducting analyses of customer behaviour and activity to identify high-risk accounts. You will be responsible for direct interaction with customers, assisting them in understanding and maintaining control over their gambling choices. This position involves various tasks, including affordability testing and enhanced customer due diligence, ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) regulations and counter-financing terrorism (CFT) requirements. The successful candidate will be part of a team that operates under shift-rota patterns, which may require evening and weekend work.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of customer behaviours and activity.
  • Identify and escalate high-risk accounts at the earliest opportunity.
  • Prevent and detect multi-accounting activities.
  • Engage in responsible gambling investigations, communicating with customers via email, Live-Chat, or telephone to ensure responsible gambling practices.
  • Carry out affordability testing to monitor customer spending limits.
  • Perform enhanced customer due diligence on members as escalated from the Member Support or Operational teams.
  • Resolve customer queries and requests efficiently.
  • Address any escalated customer issues referred from the Member Support or Operational teams.
  • Maintain timely documentation and record keeping.
  • The Responsible Gambling Officer will also undertake other relevant duties as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of five GCSEs, including Maths and English at grade C or above.
  • Experience in a responsible gambling, risk, regulation, or compliance role is desirable, although full training will be provided.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills are essential for balancing workload and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to learn and understand governance and compliance philosophies, policies, and management practices.
  • Familiarity with Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission, United Kingdom Gambling Commission, and Jersey Gambling Commission legislation would be advantageous.
  • Innovative and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Well-developed communication skills for effectively interacting with challenging customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Sound interpersonal and negotiation skills are required.
  • One year of relevant experience in a similar compliance role is preferable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
  • This role may be suitable for an A-level school leaver capable of quickly acquiring new tasks.
