Our client is looking for a skilled Data Protection Officer & Compliance Officer to join their team. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to ensure compliance with data protection regulations while promoting a robust data protection framework within the organisation. You will play a fundamental role in safeguarding personal data and ensuring that the organisation adheres to relevant legal standards. In this role, your primary focus will be on implementing and maintaining effective data protection policies and practices. You will collaborate closely with management and various teams to provide guidance on data privacy and protection, ensuring that data handling processes are compliant with applicable data protection laws.
JOB DUTIES:
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures related to data protection, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of the organisation’s data processing activities to identify and mitigate any potential risks.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to management and staff on data protection matters, ensuring awareness and understanding of related policies.
- Facilitate training sessions and workshops on data protection best practices to promote a culture of compliance across the organisation.
- Act as the main point of contact for data subjects and regulatory authorities, addressing queries and concerns regarding data processing activities.
- Monitor changes in data protection legislation and assess their impact on the organisation’s operations, making necessary adjustments to policies and procedures as required.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure appropriate technical and organisational measures are in place to protect personal data.
- Maintain comprehensive records of processing activities, including data mapping, to ensure transparency and compliance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- A solid understanding of data protection laws, regulations, and best practices, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- Proven experience in a data protection or compliance role, demonstrating the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to a diverse audience.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, enabling accurate assessment of data protection compliance.
- Experience conducting audits and risk assessments, along with the ability to recommend effective solutions.
- A relevant qualification in law, data protection, or a related field would be advantageous.
