Our client is seeking a Trainee IT Service Desk Administrator to join their IT department in Guernsey. This full-time role offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience in technical support, assisting with day-to-day operations and change projects. The position will report to the Senior Service Desk Team Lead. The successful candidate will deliver effective technical support to end users, ensuring continuity of IT services and enabling staff to perform their roles efficiently. Job Duties:
- Provide first-line administrative and technical support to the IT department and occasionally assist the Facilities team.
- Assist employees with day-to-day IT queries, both in person and remotely.
- Log, track, and prioritise support requests to ensure prompt completion.
- Investigate and resolve basic technical issues while maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Help with the setup and maintenance of computers, software, phones, and other equipment.
- Support the upkeep and replacement of IT equipment throughout its lifecycle.
- Process requests for setting up accounts for new starters or closing accounts for leavers.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers, ensuring requests are handled efficiently.
- Support new or junior team members where appropriate and assist colleagues with more complex tasks.
- Contribute to small projects, helping with testing, rollout, and documentation.
Job Requirements:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- An interest in IT and computing; a Level 3 qualification or equivalent is desirable.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
- Awareness of IT concepts such as user accounts, software installation, and troubleshooting.
- A willingness to learn and develop within a technical support environment.
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving capabilities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Results-driven mindset, comfortable in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
