Ground Training Manager / DG Officer

Our client is seeking a Ground Training Manager/DG Officer to design and deliver training programmes in accordance with company procedures and external governing body regulations. Reporting to the Head of Ground Operations, this full-time role requires a recognised training qualification and experience in a training environment, ideally with exposure to various business areas. Job Duties:

  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programmes in collaboration with the Head of Ground Operations.
  • Provide off-island training as required by business needs.
  • Monitor legislative changes and update training materials to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain, review, and manage all training records, ensuring their accuracy and currency.
  • Operate relevant communication and computer systems proficiently.
  • Ensure all activities comply with safety and legal standards, especially regarding ramp procedures.
  • Manage and address mishandled or damaged baggage and other payloads.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of company procedures related to aircraft handling and dispatch, focusing on aircraft restrictions from Aircraft Handling Manuals.
  • Collaborate with Station Managers to adapt training to evolving business needs.
  • Liaise with carriers, airport authorities, and internal teams to address training issues.
  • Develop monthly training plans and reports, focusing on employee development.
  • Audit business areas to identify training gaps and maintain standards.
  • Travel at short notice, sometimes for extended periods.
  • Provide shift coverage when necessary.
  • Conduct weekly training meetings to align and resolve training issues.
  • Stay updated on Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) and ensure compliance with IATA DG manuals and relevant tables.
  • Act as the primary contact for the CAA and internal staff regarding Dangerous Goods by Air regulations.
  • Support other business areas with their training needs. 

 

Job Requirements:

  • Proven organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Recognised training qualification (PTLLS Level 3 Award in Education or equivalent).
  • Ability to work independently with a proactive approach.
  • Strong PC software experience, particularly in developing training programmes.
  • Ability to manage challenges efficiently and promptly.
  • Self-motivated and professional demeanour with a willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility with working hours to meet business needs.
  • Strong ability to adapt to change and implement new processes.
  • Experience presenting training courses in a professional setting.
  • Calm and understanding demeanour in high-pressure environments.
  • Experience in reviewing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Problem-solving skills and initiative in the operation of the training department.
  • Working towards or holding a CMI qualification in Management and Leadership.
