Purchase Ledger Clerk

Our client is seeking a Purchase Ledger Clerk to join their Finance team. This full-time role involves 35 hours per week and requires a detail-oriented professional to ensure the accurate preparation, loading, and reconciliation of invoices and payments within the supplier ledger. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, resolving supplier discrepancies, and assisting with various finance-related tasks. 

Job Duties: 

  • Import fuel and non-fuel invoices and credit notes accurately into the Purchase Ledger using Sage 50 or NetSuite.
  • Reconcile supplier accounts with statements and payments on a rolling monthly or quarterly basis.
  • Liaise with suppliers to resolve discrepancies and ensure all invoices are received.
  • Allocate payments correctly and conduct monthly payment runs.
  • Assist with month-end processes and reconciliations.
  • Process employee expenses in line with company policy, ensuring timely reimbursements.
  • Undertake ad-hoc tasks within the department as required.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Finance Manager or Group Financial Controller.


Job Requirements: 

  • Previous experience in a Purchase Ledger role.
  • Proven ability to handle high-volume processing efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the initiative to resolve queries promptly.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all financial matters.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Intermediate Excel skills and experience with accounts packages, ideally Sage or NetSuite.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
