Management Accountant

Our client is seeking a Management Accountant to oversee financial reporting, procurement management, and cash flow forecasting. This full-time role requires the preparation of management accounts, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring the timely delivery of financial insights to senior leadership. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Financial Accountant to provide accurate financial results and contribute to process improvements within the finance function.

 

Job Duties:

  • Oversee management accounting aspects related to revenue recognition and payables reporting.
  • Implement and maintain a procurement management system, ensuring adherence across the business.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Provide daily cashflow reports with a rolling forecast to senior management.
  • Support the advancement of department technology to improve management information.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports as required by the business.
  • Authorise bank payments as part of the approval team.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Revenue Officer, Accounts Payable Officer, and their teams.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly management reporting, offering financial insights.
  • Assist in cashflow forecasting and capital expenditure planning.
  • Develop strong working relationships across departments to foster collaboration.
  • Provide guidance and professional development support to direct reports.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Accountant to maintain an effective chart of accounts and reporting structure.
  • Verify revenue and expenditure accuracy in SAGE and management accounts.
  • Work with budget holders to ensure accurate recording of revenue and capital expenditure.
  • Deliver daily cashflow updates and rolling monthly forecasts.
  • Conduct budget variance analysis and provide relevant financial commentary.
  • Regularly review profit and cost centres with business budget holders.
  • Support the integration of non-financial data into financial reporting for a comprehensive management view.
  • Assist with audit information requests as required.
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets, ensuring effective financial planning.
  • Identify opportunities for system and process improvements within the finance function.
  • Ensure adherence to procurement processes to enhance cost management.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement agreed financial process improvements.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of management and financial accounting principles.
  • Experience in accounting functions from trial balance to published financial results.
  • High numerical proficiency and technical accounting ability.
  • Strong IT skills, including experience with accounting software such as SAGE.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other financial reporting tools.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential financial information.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience in the aviation sector or high-volume FMCG environments is desirable.
  • Understanding of airline business and accounting requirements is advantageous.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting colleagues is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of the Channel Islands economy is an advantage.
  • Qualified or actively training towards ACA, ACMA, ACCA, or an equivalent accounting certification.
  • A relevant bachelor's or master’s degree in business management, business administration, or finance.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying up to date with accounting best practices.
  • Ability to obtain an airside pass, subject to a verifiable five-year work history and a police check.
