Billing Administrator

Our client is seeking a Billing Administrator to join their corporate services department. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience in billing, preferably within a legal environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Finance Billing & Collections team, ensuring the accurate creation and distribution of invoices, driving process efficiencies, and optimising working capital.

Job Duties:

  • Produce legal bills from initial creation through to distribution to clients
  • Regularly review WIP balances with fee earners and finance team members to identify billing opportunities
  • Provide support for complex billing requirements, including amendments, reversals, write-offs, and database updates
  • Act as a subject matter expert for billing within the firm’s practice management system, identifying areas for process improvements
  • Manage billing email inboxes, addressing queries and escalations in a timely manner
  • Implement process enhancements for both new and existing matters
  • Monitor changes in client invoicing requirements, ensuring compliance to facilitate timely payments
  • Liaise with clients to obtain matter or purchase order numbers where required
  • Collaborate with internal fee-earning teams to ensure invoices align with external counsel guidelines
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the wider finance team as needed

Job Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a billing role, preferably within a legal or professional services environment
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Aderant tools and automated workflows (preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail with an organised and diligent approach to work
  • Excellent client service mentality with a proactive and solutions-driven attitude
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
  • Awareness of the wider commercial environment and financial processes
