Temporary Financial Controller - 12 months

Our client is seeking a Financial Controller to cover maternity leave on a 12 months basis. This role is ideal for a qualified accountant with extensive experience in financial reporting, commercial acumen, and strong leadership skills. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Finance, leading the financial reporting team and ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial data to support decision-making within the business.

Job Duties:

  • Lead the financial reporting team, providing technical guidance, allocating work, and setting reporting timetables.
  • Oversee the preparation of annual consolidated financial statements and individual company financial statements.
  • Prepare monthly and annual consolidation of all group entities, including subsequent reporting and analysis.
  • Produce monthly management accounts, including variance analysis.
  • Analyse management information and present key findings.
  • Collaborate with the Balance Sheet & Liquidity Manager on profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Prepare board packs and attend board meetings for regulated entities.
  • Work with multi-jurisdictional teams to prepare annual budgets.
  • Ensure financial data is prepared accurately and in a timely manner for senior management, boards, partners, and auditors.
  • Complete tax computations and returns in line with submission deadlines.
  • Work with the finance systems team to increase automation where relevant.

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant with extensive accounting experience.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Flexible approach with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and develop solutions to new challenges.
  • Proven experience in people management, enabling team members to excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present analysis effectively.
  • Experience using a practice management system; knowledge of Elite 3E or Viewpoint would be advantageous but not essential.
