IT Service Desk Team Leader

Our client is seeking a proactive and forward-thinking IT Service Desk Team Leader to join their growing business on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a hands-on leadership role where the successful candidate will not only oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT Service Desk but also work directly alongside the team to provide first and second line technical support. The role requires a balance of team leadership, technical proficiency, and a commitment to delivering exceptional IT service across the organisation.

Job Duties:

  • Lead, coach and mentor the IT Service Desk team to deliver high-performance support
  • Oversee daily service desk operations, ensuring efficient handling of all incidents and requests
  • Provide first and second line technical support, working directly alongside the team
  • Manage service escalations and liaise with technical teams and suppliers to ensure timely resolution
  • Drive continuous improvement and help optimise IT service delivery
  • Own and manage high-priority incidents, ensuring timely response and clear communication
  • Foster a customer-first culture, ensuring service excellence and colleague satisfaction

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience leading an IT service desk or technical support team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and technical knowledge of IT systems, networks, and ITSM processes
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Windows OS, Active Directory/Azure AD, and endpoint management tools
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with a focus on team development and hands-on support
  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience
