Accounts Payable Clerk

Our client is seeking a Payables Finance Clerk to join their Finance team on a full-time, permanent basis in Guernsey. This role is key to supporting the accurate recording and reconciliation of the organisation’s expenditure streams. Working closely with the Payables Finance Officer, the successful candidate will play a central role in processing supplier invoices, maintaining creditor accounts, and ensuring robust financial controls within a dynamic operational environment.

Job Duties:

  • Liaise with department managers to obtain purchase order approvals
  • Resolve purchase order issues to ensure compliance with procurement procedures
  • Match purchase orders to supplier invoices using the SAGE accounting system
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any related queries
  • Monitor invoice processing to ensure payment deadlines are met
  • Process payments for approved invoices promptly
  • Review and maintain creditor accounts in alignment with supplier statements
  • Process passenger claim refunds as directed by the Commercial team
  • Prepare balanced month-end reconciliations of control accounts
  • Maintain procedural documentation to support internal financial controls
  • Assist with audit processes by providing required documentation
  • Provide general support to the senior finance team as required

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a payables ledger or credit control role
  • Strong working knowledge of SAGE 200 or similar accounting systems
  • Familiarity with purchase order processing systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Well-organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Proactive with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Bookkeeping or accounting qualification is an advantage
  • Education to Level 2 or 3 standard (GCSE/BTEC/A Level or equivalent)
  • Willingness to complete GSAT training and police check for airside access
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous learning
