Our client, a fiduciary company operating in Guernsey, is seeking a part-time Assistant Accountant to join their Finance Department on a permanent basis, working 25 hours per week. This role supports the Finance Manager across a range of finance functions, including bookkeeping, reconciliations, billing processes, audit preparation and ad-hoc reporting.
Job Duties:
- Assist with month end processes, from bookkeeping to trial balance, including reconciliations
- Perform accurate double-entry bookkeeping in line with revenue recognition principles
- Maintain and manage time charge records and prepare data for month end
- Carry out month end balance sheet reconciliations
- Post fee receipts to the client management system and reconcile to the general ledger
- Prepare ageing debtor reports and manage outstanding balances with administrators and management
- Support quarterly billing cycles and processes
- Assist with reporting, data analysis, and periodic reviews of client system data
- Contribute to the annual audit process
- Provide general clerical and administrative support to management as required
Job Requirements:
- Strong bookkeeping skills and previous experience in double-entry bookkeeping
- Understanding of accounting from transaction level through to trial balance
- Experience using accounting software systems
- Experience with client management or time-charging platforms is desirable
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills
- Methodical, accurate and organised approach to work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Commercial awareness and adaptability to changing priorities
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess issues from different angles
- A bookkeeping certificate or part-qualified CAT
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics at grade C or above
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word
- Familiarity with MS Teams, Business Central or 5Series would be beneficial
