Temporary Community Engagement Officer - 3 months

Our client is seeking a Community Development Officer to join their tenancy sustainment team on a temporary, full-time basis for an initial period of 3 months. This pivotal role supports and develops initiatives to foster resilient, connected, and engaged communities across their housing stock. In addition to driving community engagement, the postholder will be responsible for investigating anti-social behaviour complaints and coordinating effective resolution in collaboration with tenants and partner agencies. This position is ideal for an empathetic and driven individual who thrives on building strong networks and promoting inclusion within diverse communities.

Job Duties:

  • Investigate and manage anti-social behaviour and nuisance complaints in line with procedures
  • Serve statutory notices for breaches of tenancy under the Residential Tenancy (Jersey) Law 2011
  • Maintain accurate case records and prepare eviction reports for legal proceedings
  • Attend Magistrate’s Court during legal processes as required
  • Engage with communities to identify hubs, assets and areas of need, including mixed tenure estates
  • Build relationships with organisations to deliver targeted community initiatives
  • Support and enhance participation in existing community groups and activities
  • Develop a volunteer network to support community projects
  • Coordinate the use of community amenities and engage with partners to deliver community hubs
  • Manage the Inspiring Communities Grant, including assessing and recommending applications
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues to meet shared client and organisational objectives
  • Maintain detailed records and communication with tenants, colleagues and third parties
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the wider objectives of the organisation

Job Requirements:

  • Educated to A-level standard or equivalent professional qualification
  • Strong networking and collaborative skills across organisations and sectors
  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to connect with individuals from all backgrounds
  • Confident and persuasive communicator, both written and verbal
  • Well-organised with excellent record-keeping and reporting skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in complex situations
  • Self-motivated and action-oriented, with effective team working skills
  • Experience working with individuals with diverse needs and vulnerabilities
  • Awareness of safeguarding and inclusive practices
  • High level of IT literacy, especially Excel, and the ability to learn bespoke systems
  • Understanding of tenancy agreements and relevant housing legislation
  • Experience in investigative or research roles is an advantage
  • Knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Law (Jersey) 2011 is desirable
  • Entitled to work residential status
  • Clean driving licence
