Our client is seeking a Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer to join their organisation on a permanent, full-time basis. This high-impact role reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer and is ideal for a self-directed specialist with extensive experience in Microsoft Azure tenant splits and hybrid infrastructure environments. You will lead a major tenant separation project before moving into broader responsibilities across Microsoft 365, Azure, and on-premises platforms.
Job Duties:
- Lead the full lifecycle of a Microsoft 365 tenant split, ensuring a clean and operational separation
- Develop and deliver migration and segmentation strategies with minimal disruption to operations
- Analyse impacts across licensing, identity, application integrations, mail flow, and security
- Maintain compliance with internal policies and external regulations including ISO 27001 and GDPR
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define project scope, timelines, and risk mitigation plans
- Post-split, manage and optimise Microsoft 365 services including SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Exchange Online
- Oversee and enforce Azure AD security models, including Conditional Access, MFA, and Zero Trust
- Support incident management, daily tasks, and service enhancements across Microsoft workloads
- Lead identity governance using tools such as PIM, RBAC, and Microsoft Entra
- Implement and manage security configurations across hybrid infrastructure environments
- Design and support complex networking infrastructure, including Azure VNet and SD-WAN
- Manage and troubleshoot firewalls such as Azure Firewall and FortiGate
- Oversee integration of on-premises services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy with Azure AD
- Provide support for legacy-to-cloud integration, ensuring security and performance
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in enterprise IT infrastructure
- At least 5 years' hands-on experience managing Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments
- Proven experience in splitting Microsoft 365 tenants, covering all technical and operational aspects
- Expertise in Azure AD, Conditional Access, Identity Protection, PIM, and Microsoft 365 security
- Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g. PowerShell, Terraform, ARM templates)
- In-depth knowledge of Azure networking, Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, and M365 Defender
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks including ISO 27001 and GDPR
- Strong documentation and troubleshooting skills with excellent incident response abilities
- Microsoft certifications such as AZ-305, AZ-500, and MS-100/101 are desirable
- Experience in regulated industries such as legal or finance is advantageous
- Exposure to AI, automation, or cloud-native modernisation strategies is a plus
