Our client is seeking an Accounts Payable Officer to join their finance team on a permanent, full-time basis, working 35 hours per week. This role is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of fuel and non-fuel invoices and credit notes onto the supplier ledger, along with the allocation of payments and reconciliation of supplier statements. You will also assist with payment runs, month-end processes, and general finance office administrative tasks.
Job Duties:
- Accurately import fuel and non-fuel invoices and credit notes into the purchase ledger using Sage 50 or NetSuite
- Reconcile purchase ledger accounts with supplier statements on a rolling monthly or quarterly basis, depending on supplier size
- Chase outstanding supplier invoices and resolve any discrepancies directly with suppliers
- Allocate payments correctly and conduct monthly payment runs
- Support month-end closing activities
- Process employee expenses in line with company policy, ensuring timely reimbursements
- Provide general administrative support to the finance office as required
- Undertake ad-hoc tasks as directed by the Finance Manager or Group Financial Controller
Job Requirements:
- Previous purchase ledger experience is preferred, although training will be provided for the right candidate
- Demonstrated experience in high-volume invoice processing
- Strong problem-solving ability and initiative in responding to internal and external queries
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in handling financial data
- Clear and concise communicator with strong listening and conflict resolution skills
- Proficient in Excel and accounting software, ideally Sage or NetSuite
- Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- High level of numeracy and attention to detail
- Eagerness to learn, develop, and improve processes proactively
