Finance Director

Our client is seeking a Finance Director to lead financial strategy, governance, and business resource planning within their organisation. This is a part-time, permanent position based in Guernsey, averaging 18.75 hours per week. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, supporting operational and strategic decision-making across the organisation and contributing to wider group initiatives.

Job Duties:

  • Provide high-level financial leadership and strategic input to the Senior Leadership Team and Board
  • Deliver accurate and insightful business intelligence, financial reporting, and performance analysis
  • Oversee the organisation’s finance function, including compliance, budgeting, treasury, payroll, insurance, and IT
  • Develop and maintain internal control frameworks and ensure compliance with all financial regulations
  • Support and guide the Financial Controller and team in day-to-day operations, performance appraisals, and training
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of statutory accounts and financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP/IFRS
  • Lead on the preparation and oversight of annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow planning
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, including auditors, government departments, and external partners
  • Oversee the organisation’s IT strategy and digital transformation initiatives through outsourced partners
  • Represent the organisation on relevant committees and executive forums, providing input on strategic projects and initiatives
  • Support development and optimisation of income streams, particularly subscription-based services
  • Promote financial sustainability, efficiency, and continuous improvement across all business resources
  • Fulfil the statutory role of Treasurer under applicable Guernsey charity legislation

Job Requirements:

  • ACA, ACCA, ACMA or equivalent accounting qualification
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a senior finance role, ideally with board-level exposure
  • Proven ability to prepare financial statements, budgets, and management reports
  • Experience in managing payroll, pensions, and regulatory compliance
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and team development skills
  • Ability to influence decision-making at senior levels and collaborate across departments
  • Excellent communication skills, with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and stakeholder engagement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial systems; experience with system implementation or digital transformation is desirable
  • Strategic thinker with excellent organisational and analytical skills
  • Understanding of governance, risk management, and confidentiality protocols
