Database Administrator

Our client is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Database Administrator to manage and secure their growing data environment. This is a full-time, permanent position based in the Isle of Man. The successful candidate will take ownership of mission-critical databases, ensuring optimum performance, availability, and data integrity. This role offers the opportunity to work with a collaborative IT team in a modern, forward-thinking organisation with a strong emphasis on innovation and continuous improvement.

Job Duties:

  • Manage and maintain Microsoft SQL databases, including all versions
  • Support Azure SQL, SQL Managed Services, and monitor Azure performance
  • Assist with administration of Azure MySQL and Oracle databases
  • Collaborate with third parties to monitor and manage backups and recovery procedures
  • Monitor database performance and support query optimisation
  • Implement and maintain database security controls
  • Contribute to database design and development activities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues
  • Liaise with development and IT teams to support database requirements
  • Maintain documentation of configurations, processes, and procedures
  • Monitor DCRM space usage and contribute to data storage and sharing strategy

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience managing Microsoft SQL Server databases
  • Basic knowledge of Azure MySQL and Oracle databases
  • Understanding of backup and disaster recovery protocols
  • Familiarity with database security practices
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with performance tuning and query optimisation
  • Knowledge of cloud-based database platforms
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python
