Our client is seeking an experienced Associate Director to act as Compliance Officer (CO), Money Laundering Compliance Officer (MLCO), and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for a portfolio of fund client entities. This full-time, permanent role is based in Jersey and involves leading a small team and providing technical support to a Guernsey-based compliance officer. The successful candidate will oversee the delivery of regulatory reporting, support client fund boards, and advise internal teams and clients on compliance and regulatory matters.
Job Duties:
- Act as the appointed CO/MLCO/MLRO for client fund entities
- Report quarterly to fund boards on regulatory and compliance issues
- Provide guidance on regulatory codes, legislation, and compliance frameworks
- Develop and maintain compliance monitoring programmes and business risk assessments
- Advise on and maintain anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing procedures
- Present CO/MLCO/MLRO reports at board meetings and manage communication with regulators
- Provide technical support and oversight to direct reports and compliance officers across jurisdictions
- Support the development, implementation, and training of AML policies and procedures
- Maintain registers for breaches, complaints, gifts, and training
- Contribute to the development of a compliance-focused culture
- Assist with internal projects and the creation of compliance manuals
- Conduct site visits and liaise with client compliance teams as necessary
- Review fund documentation for regulatory compliance
- Participate in business development activities, pricing analysis, and tariff reviews
- Provide reports to internal committees such as Internal Control and Management Committees
- Supervise and develop a team of compliance professionals, holding regular 1:1s and team meetings
- Encourage a strong team ethic, open communication, and a structured framework for staff development
- Promote awareness of services provided by the Corporate Services Department through internal and external presentations
- Ensure timely completion of timesheets and accurate tracking of time spent on client activities
Job Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of Jersey fund laws and regulations
- Working knowledge of Guernsey regulatory requirements
- Experience with private equity structures and recognised fund types (including Listed, Expert, Unregulated and COBO)
- Previous experience in a managerial financial services role
- Minimum 5 years’ compliance experience
- Experience acting as a Key Person is preferred
- Proficient in MS Office and related applications
- ICA Diploma or equivalent qualification suitable for CO/MLCO/MLRO regulatory approval
- Familiarity with the business internal policies and procedures is desirable
