Our client is seeking a Finance Officer to join their team. This is a permanent position, offering 37 hours per week, with flexible hours that include an unpaid one-hour lunch break. The Finance Officer will play a vital role in supporting the financial management of the organisation.
Job Duties:
- Work with external providers and other finance officers in the Bursar’s office to support the financial management
- Manage and control supplier payments, ensuring correct procedures and authorisation are in place
- Collaborate in delivering strategic and operational plans
- Liaise with external auditors during audits and assist with drafting financial statements and related documentation
- Ensure proper documentation and control of revenue items connected with the purchase ledger
- Prepare annual financial statements in line with regulatory requirements
- Ensure financial systems are secure, appropriately operated, and based on suitable computer systems
- Advise on financial best practices
- Assist in preparing multi-year strategic financial plans, annual budgets, and cash flow forecasts
- Prepare management accounts on a regular cycle
- Advise on cash resource management and maximise safe returns on reserves
- Ensure financial systems such as Xero, Dext, and AccessPay are up to date
- Take direct responsibility for the purchase ledger
- Oversee nominal accounts for budget-holding employees
- Manage contractors and liaise with external providers regarding purchase invoices
- Oversee all purchases and make recommendations for tenders, especially for building maintenance
- Provide HR-related financial data, including payroll and pensions
- Prepare monthly paperwork covering purchase ledger and payroll
Job Requirements:
- Recognised financial qualification
- Recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ICAEW, ACCA, AAT, CIMA, CIPFA, ICAS)
- Operational finance background
- Proven record in managing staff with responsibility for a delegated budget
- Experience managing a purchase account ledger
- Knowledge of risk management and operational IT experience
- Excellent mathematical skills
- Ability to build strong working relationships
- Excellent IT and organisational skills
- High degree of personal integrity and discretion with confidential information
- Suitability to work with children and satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure with DBS
